Welcome to the 37th century.
In 2006 the inter-dimensional satellite called the life star docked with the earth, changing the laws of physics. Wars were fought. By the 30th C peace was established, and 25% of the population had superhuman abilities.
The 37th C is a bit less amazing. Superhuman gifts are illegal and the life star rots in orbit. Culture is stagnant. And there is inequality between planets.
The universe gun is a symbol of change…
I’m Dr Mike 2000, physicist, programmer, game designer, and writer and artist of this psychedelic superhero sci-fi comic.
I grew up with science fiction and superheroes, so this is partly inspired by the character driven comics of the 1980s. Levitz and Giffen’s Legion of Superheroes, Wolfman and Perez’s Teen Titans, and above all Claremont’s X-Men. The psychedelic part is my own addition to this type of story. I’ve always been fascinated by strangeness and surrealism. Here I’ve turned it into stories of giant artificial intelligences and hallucinogenic earth elementals. I’d be remiss to not mention Grant Morrison too, because his particular brand of weirdness mixed with straight silver age joycore has been a big influence too.
Superheroes cover a wide spectrum, from the urban vigilante to the downright bizarre. My work’s on the latter end of that scale. So if you’ve enjoyed any of the works listed above, and have ever wondered what it might be like to have your consciousness digitized or to pilot multiple bodies, then you’ve come to the right place! If a smattering of sex and drugs references doesn’t turn you off, then all the better!
